We are very proud to announce that both our 2024 Vermentino and our 2023 Sangiovese Rosé have been awarded a Bronze Medal in the much coveted Sydney Royal Wine Show. The Vermentino received the same honours at the Mudgee Wine Show and our not yet released 2024 Rosé topped it all off with 95 points and a Gold Medal!
Our HILLSIDE label is reserved for the wines that are crafted with grapes from our family owned and operated vineyard which is situated at 650m altitude in the ranges behind Mudgee. The vineyard is managed with organic and sustainable principles and directly by our family members.
Established in 1983, we have now planted new varieties and we are working through a multi-year rejuvenation process for the established vines with the objective of producing the highest quality of premium grapes.
Our GRATTAI GROVE range showcases wines we crafted from grapes that are sourced from premium quality vineyards in the Mudgee region.
The first block of Cabernet Sauvignon vines was planted here over 40 years ago and provides the grapes we selectively pick by hand. Matured in French oak for 13 months, the wine displays a deep ruby colour with typical flavours of cassis, dark chocolate and a hint of cigar box. It is created as an easy drinking, medium bodied wine with soft tannins in the style of French Bordeaux Cabernets.
An excellent companion with food, such as red meat or Mediterranean cuisine, you can enjoy this wine now or let it further evolve over 5-8 years.
The Shiraz grapes for this blend with our HILLSIDE Cabernet Sauvignon were sourced from a certified organic Mudgee vineyard. Both varieties were matured separately in French and American oak before being barrel selected for blending.
The result displays a ruby colour with a purple hue. Flavours of red and black berries are enriched with dark cherry and savoury notes from the Shiraz. Balanced tannins make the wine a pleasant companion with a cheese platter or a hearty meal.

For this 2023 Shiraz we have selected fruit from a certified organic vineyard where, like at our farm, sheep graze the blocks during winter to help managing weeds and adding natural fertiliser for healthy soil.
Matured in seasoned French and American oak for 13 months, the deep purple colour promises a rich bouquet of flavours. The taste follows through with aromas of black fruit and sweet tobacco from the American oak. It finishes with a spicy peppery note while soft tannins linger on the tongue.
Pair this wine with a slow cooked shoulder of lamb or a tasty mushroom risotto. Enjoy it now or let it further evolve over 5-8 years.
